Entry Requirements for BA (Hons) Accountancy and Business degree

Any applicant who wishes to undertake the BA (Hons) Accountancy and Business degree will need to satisfy the general admissions requirements of the programme, which are as follows:

English Requirements:

Where the applicant’s medium of instruction (at a tertiary level) was not in English, the applicant must have obtained a minimum of either:

  1. a score of 575 or better on the TOEFL;
  2. a score 6.0 or better on the IELTS, or
  3. furnish satisfactory evidence of a level of attainment in English Language commensurate with studying at Undergraduate level

Prior Qualifications:

For Entry in to the BA (Hons) Accountancy and Business degree, applicants must have one of the following:

  • Grade C2 at higher level in six subjects in the Leaving Certificate examination with a minimum of OC3 level English and Mathematics
  • Applications are welcomed from those with international qualifications (equivalent to those above) such as International Baccalaureate 32 points, including internationally accredited Foundation courses.
  • Satisfactory completion of a FETAC Level 5/6 full-time course of an appropriate type.
  • The programme welcomes applications from mature students.
Assessment:

Assessment is of a practical nature and is undertaken both individually (summative) and as a member of a team (formative). The programme uses a wide range of innovative assessment styles, which range from business reports, academic papers, case studies, individual and group presentations, portfolios and projects, as well as conventional examinations.

Award:

The BA (Hons) Accountancy and Business degree is awarded by Birmingham City University, which is recognized by the Qualifications Assurance Agency (QAA) in the United Kingdom.
