INTRODUCTION
This qualification is vocationally based and offers the opportunity for learners to demonstrate an achievement of knowledge and understanding of energy efficiency and sustainability to enable them to progress to the next level.
The qualification will support progression to further learning and ultimately to work in any sector, including the construction sector, where energy efficiency and sustainability are key.
The qualification is for: learners who wish to gain a good introduction to sustainability and the environment, understanding the impact of global warming, carbon footprints and how to improve energy efficiency. This knowledge is applicable across a range of sectors and industries.
MODULE OVERVIEW
Carbon Awareness:
The aim of this learning outcome is to provide learners with knowledge of how an
individual, an organisation and industry contribute to a carbon footprint, including actions
that cause substantial carbon emissions.
Improving Energy Efficiency:
The aim of this learning outcome is to provide learners with knowledge of energy
efficiency and the impact of increasing current levels of energy consumption.
Sources of Energy:
The aim of this learning outcome is to provide learners with knowledge of different
sources of energy. Learners will identify the concept of ‘clean energy’ and understand the
process of how it is generated.
Sustainability and Environmental Awareness:
The aim of this learning outcome is to provide learners with knowledge of sustainability
and how it can be introduced into daily life. Learners will identify the three accepted pillars
of sustainability: economic, environmental and social sustainability.

Achievement of this qualification confirms the learner has gained the knowledge and
skills required to:
